Vermont Trip 2012
For Luda's mom, Lucie's 60th birthday present last year we gave her a trip to Vermont with her family. The whole family. At a cottage, on the lake. What could be better?
For our family, it was a 12 hour drive. Let's just say that our little Nolin has traveled quite a ways since he has been born. We drove through Canada, New York State and into Vermont.
The Adirondack mountains were breathtaking and the drive through the twisty roads was at times a bit intense--not for the squeamish! We cut the trip into two parts and made frequent feeding stops along the way.
Everyone stayed for almost an entire week. All of the kids got along (Maude-7, Zoe-6, Bastien-6, Marion-3, Edith-3) so great it was quite impressive. The kids learned to fish, and some of them even caught some bass! They all wanted to hold Nolin, and were so good with him. I was quite impressed that he was able to sleep through all the noise and action!
I did miss Stix and Rem, since I sent them to stay with my mom for the week. It ended up being a good decision in the end, but I am sure glad to see them.
Zoe's 6th birthday happened on the trip, so we had a little celebration.
It was SUPER hot while we were there and the cottage didn't have A/C...so Nolin was a bit cranky at times and we spent most of the day following the sun to find shady spots for him to sit in outside.
We had awesome meals--each couple had a night to cook a meal for everyone to show off their culinary skills. We had to plan meals in advance because the closest grocery store was 30 minutes away :/
All-in-all it was a great trip.
On the way home, however it wasn't as good. Nolin had enough of being in his carseat and cried quite a bit. He had a screaming meltdown while I was in the tunnel about to cross into Detroit from Windsor and there was nothing I could do about it. Luda was in the car in front of me so I had no help--just to listen to him cry! The smartass customs officer didn't help either! So we ended up paying to park our cars in a parking garage in downtown detroit so I could nurse him and walk him around to calm him down. All this...and we were only 20 minutes away from home--painful!
Now we are home and back into our routine...next stop New Jersey for K and Nicole's wedding on August 10th (have baby, will travel!).
